Lev Tsypin has twelve years of experience in the Internet field. In the 1990's he worked as a consultant with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and Inforte Corporation in Chicago. Before starting Level Online Strategy, his current gig, he served as the Director of Programming at Pop Art, Inc. in Portland, OR. Lev is also an aspiring entrepreneur, and, like many of us, hopes one of his side projects makes an impact in the community.
Been there done that with a lot of things. I've had a wide variety of jobs over the last 15 years everything from being a deck hand on a crab boat to firefighting and medic. I most recently graduated again. This time I graduated with a BA in business and a minor in entrepreneurship from Concordia University (previously Fire Science). As a result of my time in college and additional studies outside of school I am starting an internet marketing business. Long term I don't know where it will go. I look at it as a starting place for bigger things to come.
I moved to Portland Oregon from Portland Maine in the summer of 2006. I'm 25 now and have been pretty involved with computers, graphic design, art, web design & web technologies for about 8 years now.
My experience is pretty much all freelance base, learning to do businesses on my own and through others I've made connections with throughout the years. I work with small businesses, startups, artists, photographers, and community organizations.
I helped setup a Technology User Group in Portland Maine through The Peoples Free Space - http://www.peoplesfreespace.org . We rented our own space through Time Dollars (no actual money involved ), built and self hosted websites for other community organizations and projects, setup and maintained computers for the PFS community space running ubuntu linux. Played a role in the Bridging the Gap program rebuilding computers and installing Linux on them for a program that distributed computers to school kids through the Time Dollar Network... Setup projectors for video events, and just did overall tech stuff..
After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, I spent time in New Orleans helping setup a Community Media Center with free internet access, and computers running linux. http://www.commongroundrelief.org/ I traveled around with a Veteran For Peace who towed a WanderPod, satellite internet and WiFi system for disasters. I maintained a website that documented our relief efforts, with stories, news, events, videos, pictures, and videos.. http://www.peoplesfreespace.org/hurricanerelief/
My current focus is with "real" environmentally & sustainably focused businesses, organizations, and projects.
When I'm off the computer, I'm doing other creative things like playing music, documenting community projects, music and other interesting events, working in the garden, visiting farms, and natural building projects.
